Child Protection Training: A local perspective A two day child protection training course for professionals working with children in UAE - including a theoretic background, evidenced based approaches, gold standard practices, skills based training and coaching, and local legislation including implications of UAE Federal Law No 3 Child Rights Law. This course is appropriate for professionals that have already accessed child protection training in the past, and that want to update their skills and/or become more familiar with local regulations and responsibilities. It is also appropriate for professionals that want to access child protection training for the first time.

Child Protection Training: A Local Perspective

What are the aims of the course?

To develop skills, knowledge and confidence in recognizing and reporting child abuse and neglect concerns to the relevant authorities. To help understand procedures and responsibilities of child protection and safeguarding when working with children and families as per legislative requirements in the UAE.    

 

What are the intended outcomes of the course?

Once the course is complete, attendees will:

Be able to identify categories, signs and symptoms of child abuse and neglect

Understand professional and legislative responsibility for the protection and welfare of children

Know how to respond, record and report concerns about children’s health, well-being, safety

Understand risk factors in child protection and abuse

Understand the need for inter-professional and inter-agency co-operation in responding to child protection and welfare concerns as best practices

Have practiced applying their knowledge to interactive exercises, case scenarios and making decisions

About the speaker Marzena Filaszkiewicz

Marzena Filaszkiewicz is a CDA Dubai and CORU HSCPC Ireland licensed Social Worker who has been working in educational and healthcare settings in the UAE and Ireland for over 10 years. Since 2016 she has been working in collaboration with the Khalaf Ahmed Al Habtoor Medical Simulation Center, designing and delivering educational sessions on Child Abuse and Child Neglect. Raising awareness about child protection and child abuse through education has been her professional focus since she moved to the UAE, most recently relating to the UAE Federal Law No 3 Child Rights Law. Marzena has a Bachelors Degree in Management and Administration in Education, a Master’s Degree in Social Work and a Postgraduate Degree in Psychological Support. In her spare time, Marzena is a voluntary board member with All Children Included, a CDA registered community group supporting the social and educational inclusion of people of determination in Dubai.
